About

Quick intro

I’m Peiyuan (Bobby) Ma — a cybersecurity student building a practical portfolio through projects, lab exercises, and writing. This site is where I ship work, document results, and track progress as I level up.

What I’m aiming for

I’m interested in defensive security: how systems fail, how attacks show up in telemetry, and how to design controls that are realistic to operate.

I’m also building up my fundamentals (networking, Linux, scripting) so I can go from “I understand the idea” to “I can implement and validate it.”

Home lab

I run a small Ubuntu server as a learning platform — monitoring, alerts, and automation included. Over time, I’ll publish writeups on what I build and the problems I hit along the way (deployments, hardening, and debugging included).

Tools I’m using

Foundations

  • Networking basics (routing, DNS, HTTP)
  • Linux administration
  • Shell scripting

Security learning

  • Log investigation mindset
  • Threat modeling basics
  • Web security fundamentals

Build & deploy

  • Astro (this site)
  • Git / GitHub
  • Cloudflare Tunnel (CGNAT-friendly)

Next up

  • Docker + reverse proxy routing
  • More structured labs + writeups
  • Security automation projects
